Notes From The Grand Knight
Vivat Jesus
I want everyone to have a great Thanksgiving
and drive carefully over the holiday. This is a
very busy time for our council during the months
of Nov.& Dec.
Dec. 3
rd
we are having a 1
st
Degree so lets try
to get all the candidates lined up that we can
possibly can. Jim Ballinger is getting the letters
out and Peter Diesel will follow up with the
phone calls. Jim Dryfuse and the Degree team
have been doing a great job for our Council. We
are leading the area in new recruits so lets all
keep up the good work.
Dec. 6
th
is the Fish Fry so please help us out by
working or buying dinner for your family.
Remember Brother Knights the Fish Fry proceeds
fund all the good deeds that we as a Council are
able to do.
Dec. 8
th
we are having a Blitz at all the Masses
and also we are having a Corporate Communion
at the 10:00 am Mass. Please remember this is a
family event. All Brother Knights and their
families are welcome to walk and sit with us as a
family.
Dec. 15
th
we are having Pancakes with Santa
after the 10:00am Mass. Please fill out the sheets
with numbers and ages and turn them in so we
can be prepared with the correct gifts from Santa.
Thank You Tom & Sally Higgerson for the help.
Our Spelling Bee winners were 4

Grove and 7
th
– 9

Kate Adams. They will
receive their prizes at their awards banquet.
When I receive the information I will send them
the information on the next level of competition
to be held at Bethany House. I know they will do
great.Good Luck !!!
March 30
th
, 2003 we will be hosting a major
degree at Holy Redeemer. So there is no reason
all our Knights should not be 3

Degrees.
Dec.17
th
is our Christmas Party. 6:00 pm.
Social. Dinner at 6:30. Bring desserts and we
have a white elephant gift exchange. Lots of fun
so join us.
I am seeing many new faces at the meetings.
So if you haven’t been to a meeting in a while
don’t be embarrassed because we really want to
see you.
In closing , I would like to wish everyone a
Merry Christmas from my Family to Yours.

Dear Worthy News Editor,
I write from the Cub Recorder desk to bring
out the Truth. In the beginning efforts to found
our council 10170 a very important person is
being forgotten. In fact so important is this
person that if he did not do his part our council
may not exist today. He would have been our
founding Grand Knight. Now I know what you
think. Who is this person? Well to start, he
talked our first Grand Knight, Brother Robert La
Barge, into coming back to Knights after not
having been in it for a very long time. Since
Robert my father talked me into being a Knight I
will not let the story die or be miss told. His
name started with an S perhaps because he was
super, or maybe because he was superman or
better yet super-knight. Super-Knight was very
much involved in making our first council go.
He brought together people from the Grand Blanc
council and after getting the approval of our
priest Father De Lorenzo life happened. Poor
Super-Knight died. He lit the fire but was not
around to enjoy the warmth of the blaze, or bask
in the glow. But let us not forget the silent
brother knight of council 10170, Stanley
Nemecek. He may have pasted, but his story
passed to me from my father. I now pass on this
story to you. Now you know the beginning of the
story.

On November 26

the CCW of St John Vianny
has requested the Color Corp for their Memorial
Mass, at 7:00 pm. We will need those that are
members of the Color Corp. to keep this date
open for this annual event.
December 5
th
is the date of the Fourth Degree
annual Christmas Party. This year rather then go
to a restaurant, we will have the event at Holy
Redeemer Family Life Center. Cocktails will be
served at 6:00pm, with dinner to follow at
7:00pm. The cost will be $5.00 per person. Your
spouse and friends are welcome. We are asking
the spouses to bring your favorite dessert. Also,
we are asking that you RSVP. Please call Jim at
239-1977, and leave on my recorder the name
and number planning to attend by December 1
st
so we know how much food we will need.
Council 10170 has requested the Color Corp
for their Corporate Communion at the 10:00am
Mass. on December 8
th
. Please plan to attend.
This was the Council that helped us raise funds
for Assembly.
Next April 4

and
5

Exemplification in Kalamazoo. Anyone planning
on entering the Fourth Degree needs to get their
application in, as soon as, possible. Remember
this is your final step in completing the road
Knighthood. This degree is all about Patriotism.
Express your feeling in joining the Fourth Degree
to a Member, and I am sure they will find you the
appropriate form to fill out.
