My
Brother Knights,
June is here, we had
the traveling Icon, Our Lady of Charity on Sunday the 1st through June 3rd
Also on Sunday the 1st, we had our Corporate Communion which was well
attended by many Knights and their families. Thank you for walking in
together this time. Elections have occurred on Tuesday June 3rd. For Council
10170 (1st 2nd and 3rd Degree’s) we have as follows: Grand Knight: Mike
Brown. Deputy Grand Knight: Bob Myers, Warden: Al Clark, Treasurer: George
Kukler, Recording Secretary Dennis Cavanaugh, Advocate: Tom O’Brien,
Chancellor: Joe Bonifazi, Inside Guard: Bob Howell, Outside Guards: Fred
Westervelt and Larry Pillen, 3 Year Trustee: Don Simon, 2 Year Trustee: Joe
Katrinic, 1 Year Trustee: Tom Higgerson. By the way, if you were paying
attention, you would have noticed that Financial Secretary: Bill Krebs was
not listed in elections. This is an appointed position from Supreme Council.
Bill is looking for someone to take his place in another year. If you are
interested, let Bill know and he can start showing you what he does. Of
course, you will also have to be approved by Supreme. Major Degree was held
at Holy Family on May 17th Welcome Neal Roche, Richard Wiktorowski and
Dennis O’Brien as our new 3rd Degree members. Assembly 0510, 4th
Degree had their elections on Thursday June 5th.
They are as follows: Navigator: Neil
Campbell, Admiral Dick Kirbitz, Captian: Frank Dohety, Pilot: Jim Schilling,
Comptroller: Mat Howe, Purser: Don Simon, Scribe: John Rizzo, Inner Sentinel
Sam Sanchez, Outer Sentinel: Julius Gorlewski, Trustees: 3 year — Jerry
Barber, 2 year — Dick Gale, 1 year — Joe Dunn. Something new in the
Flint Area is the “House of Mercy” for unwed mothers. This is the first
of it’s kind being sponsored within the North East Region of the Lansing
Diocese. We Knights in the area are being informed to the needs and requests
to get this project underway. Currently what is needed is a new boiler and
71 new windows. There is another house in the Flint area being run by the
Baptist Church for over 10 years now. Our Council is in the process of
donating $2000 toward this endeavor. If you would like to contribute time or
monies to this project, you can contact Don Simon GK, I will be happy to
give you more information. Shining Armor Award Remember, First
degree members that you have 1 year from the date of initiation to 1 — Be involved in
at-least three council service programs. 2 — Attend at-least
three Business Council meetings. |
3 — Receive both
your 2nd and 3r4 Degrees. 4 — Meet with the
councils insurance representative. 5 — Recruit
at-least one new member. During my reign as
Grand Knight, Bruce Gorlewski has met this criteria. Congratulations Bruce. Upcoming events: June 8th Holy
Family Pancake Breakfast for the 4th Degree again after 8 and 10 AM Masses. 13th Holy
Redeemer 6 PM Flag Retiring Ceremony. 14th AMVets

Catholic Central is holding the Knights of Columbus training session
starting at 9 AM. You must sign up before attending. We still have 2 prepaid
seats open for training. 1st Council

statewide campout being held at Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in Frankemnuth.
Cost is $47 for the weekend for the camp site to either pitch your tent or
